Garbs is a primarily self-taught musician, who has been making music since 2020. Starting on drums and piano, he moved to bass guitar and then to electric and acoustic guitar. In 2023 and 2024 he studied classical piano under Dr. Eric Fung and in 2024 he began to study jazz composition under Dr. Justin Morell.
In July of 2020, he and a couple friends began the band Car, mostly as a joke and a way to have fun. Garbs started as the drummer and second vocalist for the group and still continues to write and record with the band.
In late 2020 he began his solo career, releasing songs and collections throughout the following years. His first official album, On the Edge of Everything, was released on November 17, 2023, which was proceeded by the groovy single, Sirens.
2024 saw the release of multiple singles, with the primary one being the acoustic Long Haul, which has been one of his favorites, and one of his most well-received and most performed song to date. His latest single, Float Up combines psychedelia and jazz into a unique and dreamy combination.
Car was the first band that Garbs was ever in and he continues to be active member. The band is oftentimes an absolute joke and something not to be taken seriously. Because of this, it’s quite a fun time. Having an extremely eclectic catalog, Car has written in many genres such as garage rock, stoner metal, thrash metal, psychedelic rock, folk, IDM, shoegaze, pop, avant-garde, and more.
After Garbs put his foot in the door of the music world he began to collaborate with other artists in his circle. This led to the creation of The Divide in 2022, which blends acoustic folk and pop hooks together to create catchy tunes.
In late 2024, he began producing for longtime friend and Pit Crew drummer, Butler. Blending many different styles together, Garbs helps Butler bring out the best in a very groovy and dancelike manner.
